Opus 4.6 is now available on Cyrus

Anthropic released Claude Opus 4.6 on February 5, 2026. Starting today, Opus 4.6 is now available on Cyrus and the default model.

What makes Opus 4.6 different

Opus 4.6 is the strongest coding model available. It plans more carefully, sustains agentic tasks for longer, and operates reliably across large codebases. It catches its own mistakes through superior code review and debugging, which means fewer iterations to reach production-ready code.

Key improvements over its predecessor:

• 1M token context window (beta): The first Opus model to support million-token context, enabling work across entire repositories without losing track of dependencies
• 128K output tokens: Double the previous limit, allowing longer reasoning chains and more comprehensive implementations
• Agent teams: Multiple agents can split work across parallel tracks, each owning its piece and coordinating directly with the others
• Adaptive thinking: The model decides when extended reasoning helps and when to move fast, balancing intelligence with speed automatically

On benchmarks, Opus 4.6 leads on Terminal-Bench 2.0 for agentic coding and outperforms GPT-5.2 by approximately 144 Elo points on GDPval-AA. Its long-context retrieval accuracy reaches 76% on MRCR v2, compared to 18.5% for Sonnet 4.5.
